Functions & Objectives 

Press

•Liaison with the press.

•Issue of press notes, bulletins to the press.

•Review of the tone and temper of Hindi, English and Urdu newspapers published in the State.

•Submission of fortnightly confidential report of Government about the policy of Hindi, English and Urdu newspapers published in the State.

•Visit of press representatives to different areas.

•Arrangement of press conference.

•Accreditation of press representatives and issue of certificates.

 

Following are other functions of the department: 

•Publication and display of classified advertisements in newspapers and centralized payment of bills thereof.

•Publication of publicity literature, i.e., pamphlet, poster, hoarding brochure, etc. in different languages regarding the achievements and developments programmes of the State Government.

•Publicity of the achievements of the State Government within and outside the State through cultural programmes.

•Publicity of the cultural and economic development of Bihar in different languages through magazines like Bihar information/Bihar Samachar-Bihar Ki-Khabrein published from Patna in English/Hindi/Urdu.

 

Exhibition 

•To arrange exhibitions within and outside the State.

•To take part in exhibitions arranged by other States, Central Government and other national institutions.

•Production of newsreel, documentary and feature films and publicity of the progress, development and culture of the State through their medium.

•Liaison with All India Radio - Rural radio forum publicity through radio.

•Publicity through television.

•Field publicity.

•Information Centre.

•Control of all officers serving in the Information and Public Relations Department.

•Administrative charge of all buildings occupied by the Information and Public Relations Department.
